"Pure, intense emotions. It's not about design. It's about feelings."
- Alber Elbaz

Life can be hard sometimes. Things are not always how you'd hope they'd be, they don't always turn out the way you planned. But on other days things can feel so rosy and so good, it's like you can't believe how blessed you are. Right now I'm stuck in the middle, things are not the worst but the could be better... I'm still on my journey to achieving my goals, it's been hard and I've faced many a stumbling block... but I've kept going, because I know it'll all be worth it in the end. This is the mentality I'm taking for all aspects of my life; work, family, love and of course the blog.

Whilst I may not be as 'big' as many other bloggers out there, I feel truly blessed and happy to be able to do this, run my own little fashion blog. I've always been into fashion, I've always had my own distinctive style; so sometimes when other things may feel out of my control, when I'm not at my happiest, I remember that there is at least one thing I can control, one thing that I can go to to express myself; get my creative juices flowing; my blog.

I love playing dress up; putting together colour popping outfits, sexy little numbers and casual but cool looks. I wake up some mornings feeling like dressing a bit edgy, other days I want to dress cool, but as you know most of the time I like to dress somewhat sexy. With this outfit I couldn't quite make up my mind, so I thought why not just combine the three and throw a bit of culture into the mix. So, that's exactly what I done.

I wore these trousers a couple of weeks ago with the matching shirt, from Zara (as my friends and family tend to believe I only wear my purchases a couple of times, I decided from now on I'm going to wear things as much as possible and show the different ways they can be styled). I dumped the matching blouse and went for a red crop top from Boohoo (which you may have spotted I wore recently too), a longline denim jacket from Misspap and a denim clutch bag from Forever 21. I wrapped my denim look scarf around my head, put on cool red flat sandals from Zara and finished off the look with these funky but cool sunglasses from Pretty Little Thing.

Yes life can be hard, but one thing I've learnt is that it won't always be and there are things that we can do to make things better for ourselves, even if just a little bit better. We are in control of our own happiness, no one else. We decide what makes and breaks us, by our actions and attitude. I decided a while ago to let go of what is not making me happy, accept what I can not control and focus on what uplifts my mood, my spirit, my happiness. A positive attitude, determination, hard work and a good outfit can take you further than you ever thought possible.

I'd been eyeing this co-ord from Zara for a while, but wasn't sure whether I should buy it, as of recent I've been overindulging. However, at such a bargain I  gave in and bought the set, instantly thinking of the many ways in which I could style it.

I kept things simple, since the print is both bold and bright. I teamed the set with a simple white vest top from H&M and white heeled barely-there heels from Zara. I decided to glam up the look with my gold Michael Kors bag and chic red cat-eyed sunglasses from Forever 21. I finished off the look with red lipstick and contrasting blue nails.

"I know what women look good in. I don't think the rules ever change."
- Michael Kors

I love co-ords, in fact I love anything well matched. I've also got a huge crush on red right now, I think a lot of people have... as it is big on the catwalks and on the hughstreet, and has been for many months. I'd been longing for a well paired red outfit for a while, so when I spotted this belted blazer on Pretty Little Thing I knew I had to get it and find the perfect bottoms to match.

I wanted to keep the look clean and simple, casual but stylish. I love these looks from singer Fergie and supermodel Bella Hadid and wanted to achieve something similar. I decided to pair the blazer with red leggings, also from Pretty Little Thing and perspex heels from Ego Shoes. I finished off the look with cool red cat-eyed sunglasses from Forever 21 and this cute red and pink cross-body bag from Zara.

"The joy of dressing is an art."
- John Galliano

John Galliano couldn't be more right. The joy of dressing is an art; I express my inner most feelings, my emotions and my desires in everything I wear. I take pride in my appearance, striving to look great at all times (well apart fro when I'm running late to work, anything clean and not creased will have to do). I'm always experimenting with colours and textures, I just love being that pop of colour amongst a sea of dull hues. Where others wear black, I'll wear yellow... I guess you know where I'm going with this; I don't want to fit in, I don't want to look like everyone else.

I've always loved wearing bold colours and unusual colour combinations, but I'm not really one for wearing prints... at least I wasn't before I spotted this skirt on the Zara website. I was growing tired of colour blocking and wanted to make a change to my style, you know spruce things up a little, give more of a wow factor... do something a little unexpected. Because really, what's the fun in being predictable? Yep, that's right... there isn't any.

Although I'm quite petite, and the model on the website (wearing this skirt) is probably at least 4 inches taller than me, I didn't let that stop me from getting the skirt. When I say it was love at first sight.. I really do mean it. Finally, I managed to get a colourful print in my wardrobe, something different to my usual.

A few weeks ago I bought some flirty faux fur peep toe mules from Forever 21 and a bodysuit in the same colour, I knew the skirt would work so well with the pair. The blush pink of the heels and the bodysuit, went perfectly with the pink on the skirt. My mustard faux-leather cross-body bag, from Mango, made the perfect finishing touch, in addition to my amazing gold chain belt from Pretty Little Thing.

"From the beginning, the camera and I were great friends. It loves me and I love it."
- Whitney Houston

I've long been a fan of Whitney Houston, since my younger days when my mum would sing aloud to her body-moving hit 'Dance With Somebody'. I always wished I could sing just like her, but unfortunately I wasn't blessed with such a beautiful voice, though it sounds alright when I'm in the bathroom... but, I guess we all sound good in the shower, right? ha ha. Anyway, when I spotted this top on Missguided, I thought it would be nice to do a little tribute outfit post, to one of my favourite female vocalists of all time. What a legend she was... and forever will be, in the hearts of many.

I remember admiring her in the amazing movie 'The Bodyguard', in which she starred alongside Kevin Costner. She was so beautiful and there was something truly majestic about her; not only could she sing, but she could act. I can't put my finger on it, I'm not quite sure why, but she always seemed like a people pleaser... I guess it was the pressures of the industry. Everyone loved her... but deep down, I question whether she really truly loved herself as much as we all loved her. Perhaps if she did, she'd still be here today... who knows. One thing for sure, is her passing definitely got me thinking that life is for living and being truly happy within myself.  It is not about pleasing others to the detriment of myself. It is about doing what I want, seizing opportunities and living my best life... because you never know when it will be snatched away. Funnily enough, that's the mindset I apply to my dress sense; for me by me.

When I get dressed the only person I'm trying to impress and please is myself. I don't get dressed up seeking validation or acceptance, nor am I out there hunting down compliments. I just put on whatever I think looks good, whether it is 5 inch killer heels and a mini skirt, or ripped jeans and some cool trainers. It's all about me, looking good and feeling even better.

That's what I done with this outfit. I wanted to keep things laid back and casual, so I teamed my oversized sweatshirt with jogging bottoms, from Forever 21. I decided to give the outfit a cool vibe, so added my trusted longline denim jacket from Misspap and a matching denim hurdle bag from Primark. I finished off the look with platform patent white trainers from Puma and some funky black sunglasses from Shein. Not something Whitney would have worn, I don't think, but definitely inspired by the icon.

"Fashion should be a form of escapism, and not a form of imprisonment."
- Alexander McQueen

I couldn't agree more with Alexander McQueen, it's true; fashion should be a form of escapism and not a form of imprisonment. We should all have the ability to think for ourselves and therefore decide within ourselves what is best for us in every aspect of life, including, what it is we wear and how we portray ourselves to others. I'm all for expressing yourself in your fashion choices and that is exactly what I done with this outfit.

To be honest, and if you have been following my journey for a while, you'll realise I don't have a particular style. I'm always changing things up, whether it be my hair or the clothes and shoes I wear. I guess I just get bored easily and hate to appear predictable. I like to leave people wondering what I'm going to wear and how I'm going to style it. With me there are no rules, and if someone tries to promote or encourage rules, I always break them.

Hey, what's the fun in following fashion rules anyway. I see beauty in the unexpected. I'm the one who would like the dress that everyone would think is ugly or unflattering. I'm the one who would wear yellow with green, although they should apparently never be seen together. And yes, like with this outfit; I'm the one who would wear sexy black gold studded ankle boots, with simple laid back, overly basic jogging bottoms, or sweat pants (to my followers who live outside of the UK). I'm a rule breaker.

I decided I wanted a cool laid back but edgy look this time round. So I paired the unusual jogging bottoms and ankle boots combo with a cropped sweat top from Pretty Little Thing. I added a trendy camouflage anorak from Forever 21 and my oldie but goodie faux-leather clutch bag from Zara. The finishing touches, which I think brought the outfit together well, was black lipstick from Kiko Cosmetics, gold layered necklace from Pretty Little Thing and black and gold sunglasses from Topshop.

Now if this outfit isn't breaking the rules, I don't know what is.

"Trendy is the last stage before tacky."
- Karl Lagerfeld

For so long I had been wanting to wear these khaki green boots from Missguided, but hadn't found the perfect outfit to wear them with... that was until this belt came along. This belt from Pretty Little Thing literally is literally the best thing I've ever bought from the retailer. As soon as I got it I had so many outfit ideas in mind, this was just one of them. I went for a tough but sexy military look with a bit of glam, with the gold embellishments on the belt. I added hot trend sunglasses, also from Pretty Little Thing and mandatory black lipstick, to finish of the tough look.
