Seeing Double

'Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.'
- Coco Chanel

I'll never get tired of double denim, in fact I can only grow to love it more and more. Especially when retailers offer such cool pieces that I can't resist buying. Like this oversized distressed jacket from Misspap and this torn skirt from Missguided... oh, of course I can't resist.

In fact I've got quite a few double denim outfits coming to the blog in the next few weeks and more over the course of Spring/Summer... so keep an eye out. But first, lets start with my first double denim outfit of the year 'Seeing Double'.

With this outfit I wanted to go for a cool laid back look, which was both casual and sexy. Sticking to my no shopping ban (which actually officially starts 1st May) I decided to utilise both old and new,  teaming up my denim duo (a couple of months old) with my new all white Adidas Stan Smiths and a deep v wrap bodysuit, originally from Pretty Little Thing, but now sold out (don't worry I've included a link to a similar one). I finished off the look with a simple white clutch bag and my favourite rounded sunglasses from Shein.

Floral Candy

'I really need new clothes.'
- Me, every morning.

Yep, the quote above is most definitely me every morning when I'm getting ready for work. I have so much clothes, but they never seems enough. In fact I often get people asking me where I put all my clothes and shoes, I really don't know, somehow they manage to fit in my wardrobe. If they're not there, they're in my never empty laundry basket.

My addiction to shopping (both in store and online - damn you ASOS) has gotten so out of control, that I've been set with what seems like an almost impossible challenge; a shopping ban!!! Only a few days remain until I start my three month shopping ban. Yes, no shopping for three entire months. Initially it was two, but then I was encouraged to go for three instead. So from 1 May until 31 July, I won't be able to buy any clothes, shoes, accessories or bags... yep, that even includes my beloved costume jewellery (luckily I'm allowed to buy cosmetics and toiletries...phew!).

Luckily I have so many relatively new things that I haven't yet featured on the blog. Hopefully I'll be able to mix and match the old and new, continuing to provide you with outfit inspirations over the next three loooong months. For the old items that are no longer available, I'll be sure to provide you with links to things that are similar.

I've just purchased a new Macbook, which was quite pricey, so the three months of no shopping will cover that and more (I'm thinking additional money in my savings account and money towards my upcoming holiday). Plus I've got a few styling projects (amongst other things) in the month of May that'll feature on the blog, so hopefully you'll get some inspiration from that too.

To get into the swing of things, I decided to feature an old item that was gathering dust in my wardrobe, this amazing pink skirt that I purchased from Zara quite a few years ago. I featured it with a recent purchase, this yellow and pink floral print bodysuit from Zara's current collection. I finished off the look with perspex heels and a white clutch bag (another oldie... hmm, you're going to have to get use to this, sorry).

African

'I've always thought of accessories as the exclamation point of a woman's outfit.'
- Michael Kors

The sun was out... albeit temporarily, so I seized the opportunity to shoot another outfit post, the last of the Tropical Tribe look-book. This time round I opted for neutral tones, instead of the typical hues people thing of when they read or hear the word 'tropical'.

This almost-sold-out skirt from Warehouse, was in my ASOS wish list for quite a while, I was a bit sceptical about how it'd look on me, given that I'm petite and the skirt is quite long. But I bit the bullet and purchased it anyway, a wise decision. I absolutely love this skirt and since purchasing it I've worn it plenty of times to the office, so much so that I've given it a rest - don't want people thinking it's the only skirt that I own.

Anyway, with this look I decided to team it up with my new favourite heels from ASOS (unfortunately, now sold out), a black cold shoulder ribbed top and a cute mini cross body bag from Michael Kors. I finished off the look with these cool round sunglasses from Shein and a smile.

Pretty Tribal

'I'm a very down-to-earth person, but it is my job to make that Earth more pleasant.'
- Karl Lagerfeld

Well well well... never did I imagine picking up such a top from Next. The retailer has done well and nailed the tribal look, making the piece the perfect fit for my current look-book; Tropical Tribe. You'd be forgiven for mistaking the top for a one of piece, from an African designer. But no, it's available on the high street, available to all.

I decided to keep the focus on the top; teaming it with white skinny jeans, a silver clutch bag and barely-there silver heeled sandals. A last minute addition of silver aviator sunglasses completed the look.

Paradise

'I want people to see the dress but focus on the woman.'
- Vera Wang

I'm so in love with the tropical vibes on the scene right now, especially the designs in Oasis. Not a store that I frequently visit, Oasis has come out with some amazing designs for the Summer season... in floral and tropical prints. I couldn't wait to showcase my recent purchase from their current collection; this amazing tropical print midi dress.. oh it's to die for.

I decided to keep all the focus on the statement dress, teaming it up with strappy knee high heeled sandals, cool black round sunglasses and this funky palm leaf clutch bag from Forever 21, that I wore in a recent outfit post. Perfect weather in London gives the impression that I'm in a tropical environment.

Brave

'Fashion is just another accessory for someone with great style.'
- Ralf Adelberg

I've always loved a good bargain and Shein is definitely one website I'm able to get my hands on plenty. From crazy heels to funky tops and sexy dresses, the website is a dream come true for not just a blogger like myself, but for anyone who wants to look good and not have to spend a fortune in order to do so.

Now, I must confess, my love for the website has slowly turned into an obsession. Every day I make sure I go to the 'daily new' section to see if there's anything worth spending my hard earned cash on, and as you can guess there's always a gem or two. In actual fact, I've got between 20 and 30 items saved in my wish list and a further eight in my basket (I try not to place a new order until I've received my last one).

My last order included this cool tiger print bomber jacket... which although initially I thought was a little over-sized, I really do love. I decided to team up the jacket with these comfy but stylish bottoms from my favourite store, Zara. I paired the two with simple white heeled sandals, a white staple crop top, a plain clutch bag and limitless attitude.

Purple Tropic

'Fashion is about something that comes from within you.'
- Ralph Lauren

Wow, this is really bad. I don't like to start my posts off on a negative note, but it has been almost a month since I last posted... yep, not a good look! But in all honesty, one of my best friends just got married and if you know Nigerian weddings they tend to be in two parts (the traditional engagement and then the main ceremony) and very time consuming; so as a bridesmaid I dedicated my time to helping make her special day one to remember (and his of course, lol). So the blog had to be on the back burner for a while. But fear not, I've shot 8 new looks for you to view, and will be shooting a few lookbooks over the next 2 months. in addition to a few styling projects. Anyway, here's the first of my looks... 'Purple Tropic'.
