Looking Back: May 2016

The month of May has been colourful and bright; the sun has been shining for the majority of it and the weather has been warm (of course with the odd showers, but hey, it is London). With the lovely weather comes the perfect opportunity to get out my Spring/Summer wardrobe... and that's exactly what I done.

With chiffon pieces, to off shoulders and white skinnies... I couldn't get enough of showcasing some of my favourite recent buys and wardrobe staples. Teaming the old with the new I was able to put together several cool and (if I may say so) trendy outfits. Roll on Summer, I just can't wait to show you the outfits I have in store for you...

MY TRENDS: Cold Shoulder

If there's one trend I'm loving this season, it has to be the hit cold shoulder. From the catwalk to the high-street... there's cold shoulder tops, dresses, tunics and more at purse friendly prices. So there's no need to miss out.

I got my ribbed top from e-tailer Boohoo.com for a jaw-dropping £12, yes, so good I had to get two; nude and black. I teamed them similarly; with faux leather mini skirts and killer heels. One look echoed rock chic, whislt the other was more girly.

I've put together my 5 favourite buys from the trend:

Embroidered

'You're never fully dressed without a smile.'
- Little Orphan Annie

I'm so in love with this embroidered skirt from Zara, the detailing is absolutely beautiful. I've had it for just under a month now, patiently waiting for a warm enough day to wear it and take a few snaps. Finally the day came. I decided to keep the attention on the skirt keeping the rest of the outfit muted in black. I teamed the skirt with a cold shoulder sheer shirt, black fringed suede bag and black perspex heeled ankle boots.

Rainbow

'Over the years I have learnt that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.'
- Yves Saint Laurent

Hands up who loves the ASOS Sale... Yep, I do. In fact I'll put both hands up, because I love it so much and that's where I got this amazing floral dress from. Absolutely stunning, perfect for a Spring or Summer wedding, this dress with a bold print and flattering design is a must have. I decided to keep things simple, with the focus on the dress, wearing ankle strap white heeled sandals and a white faux leather clutch.

Spring Denim

'I know what women look good in. I don't think the rules ever change.'
- Michael Kors

I remember years ago wearing double denim use to be considered a 'faux pas' a big no no, something that was frowned upon. Oh how the tables have turned since. Nowadays you scroll through Instagram, flip through the pages of fashion magazines and more and it's considered the 'thing' of the moment. In fact it's been the thing of the moment for several years now, and it's a trend that I believe is here to stay for good - something I'm happy about.

In fact, to be honest, I don't really care if it is considered hot or not; I wear whatever I think looks good on me, despite the rules or what others think is in or out of fashion. And that's the mentality I had when I put this triple denim look together. I teamed up this stonewash off-shoulder frilled top with white high-waisted skinny jeans and a stonewash denim clutch. I finished off the look with white perspex heeled sandals and a statement gold necklace.

Long live double denim... the more denim the better.

Brown Mango

'What's becoming very obvious to me is that fashion is art.'
- Lupita Nyong'o

Summer is in full swing and I'm enjoying it to the max. Out with the layers and in with the sheer materials and chiffon. That's exactly what I done with this outfit. I teamed a floral chiffon off shoulder top with a airy mini skirt, both from Mango. I finished off the summery look with a tan cross body mini Michael Kors bag and suede fringed sandals from New Look.
