Well what can I say, where should I start? I think the older I get the quicker the year passes by... It feels like just the other day we were celebrating the start of 2016 and with the blink of an eye the year has come and gone. Or maybe it's true what they say; 'time flies when your having fun' and fun is what I had for sure. From sun bathing on the beach in Portugal, to partying all night in Bulgaria and so many more amazing experiences I encountered in 2106. The year was definitely one I'd never forget; and for more positive reasons than negative.

But all the fun stuff aside, this year I learned a lot about myself and what I want from life. I decided to stop caring about what people thought of my life and the choices I've made and concentrate on finding true happiness in all aspects of my life; work, love, family... and of course fashion. I'm living life for me and not to please others, and more importantly, although I already knew, I decided to act on the fact that MY happiness is dependant on me and not on others. I don't need validation or acceptance in order to do what I want or need to do. I don't need approval or acknowledgement on social media. If it makes me happy and it's not harming others, then hey, why not?!

This is the approach I took with my outfits. Who cares what people think of what you're wearing, if you like it and you feel good in it, then wear it... because people will always have something to say; good or bad. In 2016 I wore some racy outfits, the kind of outfits people would say "where does she think she's going in that?", I also wore some funky outfits, which people probably thought was 'over the top' or not 'fashionable'... but it didn't faze me, because I felt good and confident. And this all ties in with my Style new years resolution... I'm calling it my 'Stylution' lol.

My stylution for 2017 is to be more adventurous and less pleasing. Crazy colour combinations that don't usually go (or so people may say), clashing prints, crazy hair colours, daring dresses and show-stopping shoes. My aim... too inspire others to wear what they want and with confidence. To stick two fingers up to critics and say I don't give a damn if this is trendy or not, and above all be true to their own unique individual style. If I only manage to inspire one person, at least I inspired one, who could potentially inspire many others... and then my job (for 2017, fashion wise) is complete.

So be on the lookout for a lot more Rita style this year and less conforming. Because hey, dressing like everyone else is boring.

Happy New Year!

One of my favourite trends of 2016 was the metallic pleat skirt. Whether in gold, silver, pink or any other colour, the pleated skirt was a major hit on the fashion scene. For a long time I wanted to feature my skirt on the blog, but never really got round to it. But at long last it is here.

I decided to team the stunning skirt with a black wrap top, chic sunglasses and plenty of texture; with a faux fur stole, matching bag and pretty feathered heels. I kept my make-up and jewellery to a minimal, because the only thing you need to focus your eyes on is my skirt.

As we draw even closer to Christmas I thought I'd feature some more dazzling looks, in my favourite metallic colours. To start off the them, I went with gold; my favourite. I teamed up fancy gold shimmer pants with a lace choker neck top and faux fur accessories. I finished off the look with classics festive red lipstick and simple gold jewellery.

Yes, it has been a while now, a while since I featured these bad boy denim over the knee boots on my Instagram stories and Snapchat, and now they've finally made it to the blog... and yes, I intend on feature them a lot more this winter. I decided to team the boots up with  monochrome faux leather ensemble, all from Zara (current collection) and my trusted faux leather grab bag. Simple but effective, if I may say so myself.

I've always waned to hop on the 'Winter White' trend, and finally I got the opportunity to do so. I decided to finally feature this cosy knit top from Boohoo.com with a recent Zara purchase, this matching mini flare skirt. To add just a little colour, I opted for muted tone ankle boots (which feature a gold heel), a matching floppy wide brim hat and a tan cross body mini bag. And my accessory of choice, this amazing wood watch from Jord.
