"Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them."

Back in March I was a bridesmaid for one of my best friends. Typical of Nigerian weddings, the bridesmaid wore two dresses; one for the Church ceremony and another for the evening reception. Whilst I loved the dress I wore for the church ceremony, I was most excited about the dress for the reception; because I designed it.

All the bridesmaids were given the same material to design whatever they wanted to wear to the reception, of course with the different designs, the same material allowed us to look uniform and stand out from the rest of the guests. Those who know me well know that I love things like this, I've always designed outfits but haven't always had the time to get them made. However, on this occasion I was given the contact details of great a tailor based in South East London, so immediately got to work on designing my dress.

I wanted to design something that I wouldn't just wear for the wedding, but could wear again, wherever and whenever. So I came up with a maxi dress that could transform into a mini dress. A sweetheart neckline mini dress, with a full maxi skirt that is wrapped on top, to create the illusion of a glamorous maxi dress.

I decided to wear the dress with platform gold heels, a gold clutch bag and gold statement jewellery. I finished off the look with red and gold make-up, to complement the rich colours of my dress.

So this is outfit number three of my Love Denim look-book, this time I decided to embrace my roots, my African roots. What was once a denim look scarf from Zara, was used to create a head scarf, which tied in the different tones of my denim outfit. This long skirt, admittedly an unusual length for me, was bought from Forever 21 last year (alternative here), and as well as being featured for the first time, is being worn for the first time. I decided to pair the long line skirt with my belted denim jacket from ASOS (sold out), cute tan heeled sandals (alternative here and here) and my cute matching Michael Kors cross body bag (larger size here). Not every day westernised ensembles.

Today I thought I'd embrace my west African roots by expressing it in my attire. I teamed this bralet with on trend culottes and a simple black chiffon head scarf. I brought together the look with chunky tan wedges and a matching oversized clutch, finishing with a large gold choker and African gold hand-painted wooden earrings.
